Art in the Open Website Live
City Parks Association is proud to announce the launch of a website dedicated to Art in the Open, an upcoming Philadelphia arts festival.
Art in the Open Philadelphia is a citywide festival that celebrates artists and their relationships with the urban environment. Inspired by the tradition of plein air painting, selected artists will work outside, on-site over a four-day period along the banks of the tidal Schuykill River from the historic Fairmount Park Water Works south to landmark Bartram’s Garden.
During the day, partnering institutions will offer extensive opportunities for public engagement with the festival, showcasing the vibrant community of working artists, galleries and institutions that make Philadelphia a major Urban Art Center. On each of the four nights, a forum hosted by a local institution will focus a distinct lens on the relationship of the artist to his/her landscape.
Art in the Open is slated to take place in Spring 2010. Visit our website for more information, and to follow the festival’s progress.
